Aloha! Hawai'i Island (the Big Island) lies about 200 air miles southeast of Honolulu. It is home to about 150,000 people, who are ethnically diverse and show a high level of interest in aquaculture technology and business opportunities.

The statewide aquaculture extension service* supports the development of the aquaculture industry by providing:

  • A public information initiative to enhance the public knowledge and support of aquaculture, and to answer numerous preliminary inquiries.
  • Education and training of existing industry participants and potential entrepreneurs.
  • Original research results and practical interpretations of research on new products and systems.
  • Consultation and services aimed at improved efficiency and problem-solving by our businesses, such as production planning and disease diagnosis and treatment.
